The King if he be of foreign descent ie Greece,Rome,Persia, Libya, Syria or Palestine is often referred to as Pharaoh. Pharaoh was originally the term used to describe the collective offices of administrators, scribes and the retinue of the king and queen.
The Big House as it were came to be used to as a term of collective distinction in the 18th dynasty after the expulsion of the Patrilineal Hksoss Shepherd Kings who came from the east. Heiress Hapshepsut took to calling herself Pharaoh and demanded the same of others in reaction to an unwillingness on the part of the actual pharoah ie the big house to define her as Sovereign Living Goddess.
This would have occured had she been born male. The Hyksoss and their Semitic vassals had effectively changed Egyptian culture forever. The Matriarchate was never able to gain back its unique regency.
